Meet Jamie Santora

Portrait of Jamie Santora

State Representative Jamie Santora!

Growing up on Childs Avenue in Drexel Hill was truly something special. Bud & Elena Santora knew they found the perfect home to raise their four children when they relocated from Hartford, Connecticut in 1969. Two years later their fifth child was born. James “Jamie” Santora has lived in Drexel Hill for over 38 years. He was taught from an early age that education was the most important thing in life. Not only the education you receive in the classroom but what you learn on the street, in your friends’ homes or when going to work with one of his parents.

Jamie’s parents met while attending the University of Pennsylvania. His mother was an immigrant from Spain whose parents relocated to Philadelphia to escape the Franco regime. Jamie’s father grew up in upstate New York and Connecticut and worked for his father from the time he was a teenager, and then he worked for himself after serving in the military and attending college. Jamie’s parents instilled in him and his siblings, that if you work hard and believe in yourself and what you are doing, you can achieve anything and overcome any obstacles. Jamie’s father ran A & E Construction and was working 10 hours days then came home and prepared the company’s books. His Mother started her career as a teacher, and then worked for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia serving the less fortunate in the Philadelphia Area. Jamie was 20 years old when he lost both of his parents, eight month apart. Jamie was dedicated to his education, he worked fulltime during the day, and in the evenings he worked towards his degree. He always kept in mind what his parents had taught him about overcoming obstacles and believing in himself. Jamie’s family is his biggest supporters.

Jamie Santora is a graduate of St. Dorothy School, Cardinal O’Hara, and Cabrini College. Jamie is a licensed Real Estate Broker. After 15 year career with O’Neill Properties group in King of Prussia, Jamie became a partner in a local real estate firm, Moore & Ryan Real Estate. Currently, Jamie proudly serves as a Councilman At Large in Upper Darby Township, a position he was honored to be elected to in 2011.

Jamie credits his Mother’s commitment to public service as a major reason that he began giving back to his community, and ultimately why he decided to seek public office. Jamie is devoted to our community, our schools, our local economy, our infrastructure, and all of the residents of the 163rd district.

To Jamie, dedication is not just shown by words on a piece of paper but is shown by action. He served on the Board of the Pilgrim Gardens Aronimink Civic Association as president, until he was elected to office in 2011. He is still very actively involved; this Board is involved in zoning issues, safety of the residents, and community pride. He is also on the Executive Board of Time for Teens, a community outreach program focused on Teenagers, headquartered in Upper Darby. Jamie was elected to St. Dorothy’s Parish Council in 2012 where he is currently serving a two year term. He is a past president and current member of The Greater Philadelphia Chapter of UNICO, an Italian American charitable organization of business leaders, who give back to their community. In 2012 Jamie was instrumental in the creation of the Faith in the Future Foundation that oversees the Philadelphia Archdiocese High School system. Lastly, Jamie Santora serves as a Councilman for the Upper Darby Township, a community he was born in and has chosen to raise his own family. He works tirelessly serving the residents of Upper Darby, a community he is proud to call home. Three of Jamie’s four siblings still live in Drexel Hill, and they are all dedicated to this great neighborhood. Jamie and his wife Amy are the proud parents of three children Ryan a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, Tyler a 6th grader at Drexel Hill Middle School, and Kyra a 5th grader at St. Dorothy.
